Meet Our Veterinarians
Ken Chamness, DVM
Dr. Kenneth Chamness was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1982. He was the first full-time veterinarian to work at Jonesborough Animal Hospital when he started in 1986. He and his wife, Lisa, have 1 daughter, 1 son and 1 grandson. He has been on 3 mission trips (2 to Costa Rica and 1 to Bolivia), works with the church youth and is involved with Paws in Blue. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, backpacking, whitewater rafting and kayaking, snow skiing, golfing and spending time with family.
Katrina Gardin, DVM
Dr. Katrina Gardin is a native Tennessean and graduated from the University of Tennessee. She is owned by exceptionally talented cats, an elegant dog and a dignified bearded dragon. She is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners and the Animal Medical Diversion Committee. She enjoys outdoor activities, gardening (especially orchids) and spending time with family.
Tracy Padgett, DVM
Dr. Tracy Padgett grew up in Blountville, Tennessee, and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2004. She joined the Jonesborough Animal Hospital family in 2007. She and her husband, Rodney (also a veterinarian) have two sons, Avery and Nicholas. They have 2 dogs, Charleigh and Rose, a cat named Scramble and several chickens. She volunteers as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 48 BSA. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and traveling, although her boys keep her busy with sport activities.
Suzanne Campbell, DVM
Dr. Suzanne Campbell was born and raised in Kingsport, Tennessee, and graduated from North Carolina State University in 2007. She joined the Jonesborough Animal Hospital family in 2016. She and her husband, Matthew, have 2 sons, Colin and Mason. Additionally, she and her family have 4 dogs, 2 cats, several snakes, hermit crabs and a bearded dragon. She enjoys hiking, mountain and dirt biking with her family, baking, and reading (and napping too).
Alan Simpkins, DVM
Dr. Alan Simpkins was born and raised in Opelika, Alabama and graduated from Auburn University in 2000. He joined the Mountain Empire Animal Hospital group in right after graduation and started at Jonesborough Animal Hospital in 2019. He enjoys working with his JAH family along with all the clients and friends that entrust us to take care of their pets. Outside of work, he enjoys anything outdoors and watching his daughter play softball.
Kathryn Baird, DVM
Dr. Kathyrn Baird was born and raised in Kingsport, Tennessee, and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2018. She joined the Jonesborough Animal Hospital family in 2020. She and her husband, Evan, have a horse, Soulman, and a Staffordshire Terrier, Panda. She volunteers with Children’s Church at Jonesborough First Baptist and is a Credentialed Responder for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Emergency Staff. She is a member of IVECCS and AAFP. In her free time, she enjoys snowboarding, horseback riding, hiking, playing tennis, attending UT sporting events, reading and spending time with family and friends. She loves caring for all the wonderful pets in the community.
Julianne Allen, DVM
Dr. Julianne Allen was born and raised in Kingsport, Tennessee, and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2020. She joined the Jonesborough Animal Hospital family in 2020. She and her husband, Nehemiah, have one dog named Charley. She went on several mission trips to the Navajo Reservation during school. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading and hanging out with friends and family.
